Tree Nursery Operations Manager

Albanwise Environment

  • An opportunity has arisen to join the experienced team at Albanwise Environment Ltd. as a Tree Nursery Operations Manager. The tree nursery was established in 2023 and is peat free with all stock currently cell grown. The tree nursery supports the ongoing tree planting ambitions we have across the land we manage and commercial tree sales. The role will play a key part in the growth of the tree nursery as a commercial business.

    • To work with the Woodland & Technical Manager to increase cell grown production to our current target of 500,000 trees by the end of 2025

    • Hands-on delivery of all operations, including sowing / weeding / watering, with support from our team of Woodland Operatives

    • To deliver planned investment in growing capacity and identify future growth opportunities

    • To develop and maintain industry leading health & safety standards, biosecurity practices, and record keeping, including responsibility for compliance with certification schemes, e.g. Plant Healthy

    • The grading, packaging, and despatching of products to our customers

    • Practical experience of working within the horticultural industry, ideally with experience of tree production 

    • Ambitious individual with a strong work ethic who can take a leading role in business growth 

    • The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) is seeking a detail oriented and proactive Events Assistant to join our team.

    • In this role you will act as the first point of contact for all event queries and co-ordinate all event bookings ensuring a smooth and professional experience for delegates, sponsors, speakers and stakeholders.

    • We are seeking an individual with previous experience in a similar role and who has strong administrative, organisational, time management and excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

    • To be successful in this role, you will have excellent IT literacy and an eye for detail with the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure within a small team.

  • Location: This role is an office-based role and the HTA operate a hybrid working office, with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office based in Chilton, Oxfordshire.  This role does also require some travel for external meeting/events, which may involve overnight stays (approx. 4 times a year) and therefore a willingness to be flexible on hours if necessary.
