Workshop Manager
Greens Team

Greens Team has worked closely with many directors and producers, filming all around the world, on many celebrated past and present blockbuster films and television dramas.
We have a core team of experts who we can call upon depending on the requirements of the production, which include dressers, growers and tree builders. We can also provide the appropriate plants and foliage and we can supply any plant, any size, anywhere in Europe within 3-5 working days at extremely competitive prices.

Liaise with the production’s Health & Safety team to ensure all necessary safety measures are in place within the workshop.
Brief the team on fire safety protocols, working closely with the production’s Fire Chief to understand and uphold team responsibilities.
· Coordinate with the Locations team to ensure workshops are safe and suitable for work.
· Work with the Buyer to order workshop consumables as needed.
· Set up and maintain workshops, including the management of hand tools on-site.
Oversee the proper storage of hazardous substances (COSHH) and ensure all team members wear the appropriate PPE.
Act as the primary first aider within the team, ensuring prompt response to any incidents and maintaining first aid supplies.

A proactive, "can-do" attitude
Competence in computer-based tasks (preferred but not essential).
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to adapt quickly and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, maintaining professionalism and composure.
Confidence in liaising with Heads of Departments (HODs) both within and outside the department.
Sound knowledge of tools and equipment, including: Power tools, Machinery, Strimmer’s and blowers, Irrigation pumps
Awareness of safety procedures related to straps, harnesses, and ratchet straps.
Experience managing up to 100 people within the workshop and ensuring their safety.
Experience operating machinery such as forklifts.
A solid understanding of COSHH regulations.

Hours: This is a full-time, contract role. Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm, for ~7 months. There is potential for this to be extended.
Salary: £950 a week, depending on skills and experience

Walberton Nursery are a market leading customer focussed organisation who supply high quality plants to Garden Centres across the UK. We have a stable team of 40+ employees based across 2 sites near Chichester in West Sussex and are proud to be part of Tristram Plants and the Farplants Group, both highly regarded in the industry for their sales and marketing of horticultural products.
The Lead Propagator would be responsible for the timely production of over ½ million young plants. Candidates will have a passion for plant propagation in a commercial environment, and be keen to seek, learn and develop propagation techniques and know how. They will keep up to date with latest thinking and apply this to ensuring the highest quality outcomes, whilst ensuring the team are motivated to deliver those outcomes in an environment of continual improvement.

Planning and prioritising daily and weekly work plans
Assessing cutting material readiness to enable timely propagation or seed sowing
Daily monitoring and control of cultural needs, e.g. weaning, trimming, feeding, weeding
Assessing environmental needs through the day, e.g. venting, watering
Ensuring batches are correctly labelled to the standard required by OHAS
Encouraging good crop hygiene practices and regular crop walking to maintain crops weed, pest and disease free, and clear of dead and diseased plants and debris
Ensuring work areas maintained clean and tidy and equipment returned in good order
Investigating and assessing innovative methods, equipment, and materials to develop and improve outcomes
Assisting in the planning, development, and amendment of crop plans
Ensuring you and your team are working safely, complying with relevant legislation and established Nursery procedures
Actively contributing to Risk Assessment reviews and Best Practice Workshops
Determining work rates and using established KPIs to plan and communicate expectations and monitor performance and quality
Undertaking weekly stock check, reviewing future requirements, and reporting to Line Manager
Passfield and other Crop Production record keeping and paperwork to agreed timescales and in compliance with accreditation schemes

Have proven experience in plant propagation and/or commercial horticulture
Be good leaders, team builders and motivators of people, with proven Supervisory experience
Be logical, methodical, accurate and organised with good attention to detail
Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to keep several tasks live at any one time
Preferably have a horticultural qualification
Professional, reliable and a good communicator
Excellent record keeping skills

As a Garden Maintenance Supervisor, you will:
Lead and oversee daily garden maintenance tasks, ensuring high horticultural standards
Use a variety of hand and power tools for landscaping and groundskeeping
Manage irrigation systems to maintain plant health
Train and supervise team members, fostering a strong team dynami
Maintain accurate records using our internal software system
Work closely with contract managers and directly with clients Travel to various locations on a two-week rotation schedule

You’ll have 2 years of experience in garden/grounds maintenance
In terms of training, you’ll have NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture (or equivalent). It’d be great if you have your PA1 and PA6, but if you don’t, we’d still love to hear from you. We can offer training for this.
Due to the role being based across various sites and locations, a full, clean UK driving licence is essential

Work alongside the wider production team to ensure that all spray operations are completing, whilst helping to create a positive work culture and providing guidance to ensure efficient operations alongside maintaining a commercial quality and speed.
Daily tasks would include: biological application, chemical application, fertiliser application, maintenance of spray equipment and record keeping.
Record Keeping - Maintain detailed records of all aspects of the crop production.
Monitoring of plant health and liaising with the Technical Manager.
